Hurts invaded Mist Club in Bangsar on 6th May and boy, was I glad I made it just in time for the start of TOPSHOP X Junk By Demand presents Hurts in KL!
I was quite gutted that I missed the opening act (local dj duo Twilight Action Girl if I'm not mistaken), but it was worth the rush to arrive just as Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson kicked off their set!

I couldnt take my eyes off Theo the entire night, mostly because he looks exactly like how he does in the pictures :D Hair slicked to the side, piercing eyes and both him and Adam dressed in their trademark white shirts (with a blazer for Theo and suspenders for Adam). I had a feeling that it was going to be a good concert because as I mentioned in my review of their album "Happiness" [
here], most of their songs have this soaring epicness about them that would probably sound awesome live.

All together, they performed about 15 songs, including a cover of Kylie Minogue's "Confide In Me". In fact, they went through pretty much every single song from the
"Happiness" album, like "Silver Lining", "Wonderful Life", "Stay", "Unspoken" and "Sunday".
As we were all getting into Theo's power-packed rendition of "Evelyn", Adam suddenly ditched the keyboard, picked up an electric guitar and gave us all a glimpse of his rocking side (he usually looks all calm and cool alongside Theo)!
Just when I thought it couldnt get any cooler than rocker Adam, Theo started on "Verona" and it was going fantastic (epic, soaring, you get the picture), when all of a sudden, a booming operatic voice comes in and just blew everyone away with the sheer power of the vocals! It was their backup singer, who was standing completely still throughout the entire concert and didnt move a muscle! In fact, I honestly thought he was a mannequin, from how still he stood and figured it was some artsy stage deco that Hurts put up at concerts.
How was I to know it was a real dude. With an incredibly powerful voice. Wowsers. That was incredible.

The concert lasted for about an hour, during which Theo kept tossing white roses into the audience at random intervals. I am rather upset that not one made it's way to me :(
I had a blast at the Hurts concert, even though I didnt manage to sing along to some of the songs. They're really a band best experienced live right in front of you, and I hope they come back to KL for more!

Many thanks to S
ony Music Malaysia for the tickets!!
