The Scribbles In My Head

You've been a bad girl, Jen. A very very bad girl.

Sorry, too much "Telephone" there. Damn MTV generation will be the death of us! Anyhoo, some sort of punishment is in order I'm sure since I missed an entire week of Twitpic recaps for the 2nd week of May.

I punished myself alright last night. With a new BB Cream from Skin Food. It was abit hard to take the comments and tips from the sales assistant seriously since she (or he?) had about an inch of make up on, and it seems 3/4 of it decided to settle into some decidedly deep acne scars on the face. Very distracting when I'm trying to determine if I'm shade #1 or #2.

On with the recap of what was a pretty good start to May 2010 by my disgustingly low standards.

3rd May 2010

I was feeling out of sorts as usual (all sorts of crazy that is) because I was probably hit by the dreaded Monday-shades-0f-blue syndrome. Most sufferers complain of acute depression, inability to get any work done and overall unproductivity (just another work day for most of us).

I just wanted cake s'all.

Lately, I've been bitten quite badly (in painful areas I'd rather not mention) by the online shopping bug. I have come up with the brilliant theory that one can never run out of things to buy on teh interwebz, and I have been more than happy to prove its truth.

It may have come to the point where the excitement of anticipating a package is more of a rush than the contents of said package itself. So my first really expensive and (almost) luxury purchase was via StrawberryNet.com [link] where they sell a lot of expensive stuff I wouldnt normally buy without taking it for several test runs first.

They ship from Hong Kong, so I was pleasantly surprised to receive the package in about 1 week after I placed my order. In very good condition too!

On a side note, if anyone would like to send me a nice package with random bits of happiness (not random bits of you), please do.

4th May 2010

With their signature purple ribbon around the box and trippy glittery purple wrapping paper, this is excitement at its best!!

I'll probably do a more detailed post on my StrawberryNet.com shopping experience, plus a look at what I actually bought :P

5th May 2010

I'm sure someone great once said "Strong base makes stronger building" (Pamela Anderson?), so I've been on abit of a facial sheet mask spree lately to try as many different facial sheet masks as possible and see which one would suit the walls to my soul the best (eyes are to windows, as face is to..).

Best hit the buffet before making your choice eh.

My Beauty Diary [link] masks are it seems a pretty popular choice among the porcelained-skin Taiwanese folk, so if it's good enough for them, it damn well better be good enough for me! They have over 10 different types of masks and it's impossible to buy just 1 piece at a time (they sell it in packs of 2 or 10 at exorbitant prices that would equate to blackmail in some countries).

Then I spotted this little beauty of 7 My Beauty Diary masks in one pack, and all was right with the world. Until I run out of them and have to start my search again.

14th May 2010

David and I were out shopping in Giant, and we've seen some really funky stuff popping up on those shelves in the past few years.

But Blueberry & Hazelnut flavoured Pringles chips really just takes the cake from an oddball bakery. There were other "interesting" flavour pairings too, but I shall not ruin your weekend plans, so go find out!

15th May 2010

The minute I twitpic-ed this swan, almost the entire world knew where I was going to spend my weekend - Berjaya Hills Colmar Tropicale Resort in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang!

Take that internationally recognised landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and Ramly Burger stall you.

16th May 2010

It was by far one of the best mini holidays ever. We spent 3 days there doing absolutely nothing but people watch, OD-ing on instant cup noodles and catching up on episodes of "How I Met Your Mother" and "Big Bang Theory" in between more instant cup noodle breaks and hikes to a Japanese tea garden (which was completely unnecessary IMO).

12th May 2010

The numbers are dwindling low in our quest for the Best Japanese Restaurant that Japanese row in SS15, Subang Jaya (like so)! Under the cover of darkness and in the pretense of two average working class citizens (one with a bad hair day, one with an overactive runny nose), we infiltrated Ryu Tei Japanese restaurant.

In our final report, Ryu Tei is currently ranked last amongst the others we've tried. It's not bad, but pales in comparison to the rest along Japanese row, SS15 (but definitely the most affordable).

13th May 2010

The best things in life are always eaten with your hands, by the side of the road, at the risk of a painful death from cars zooming past, consisting of greasy burgers cooked with more grease than an adolescent teenager, smothered in sauce and prepared with methods of questionable hygiene.

Extra points if there's a cat casting a voodoo on you to drop a piece of fried egg from your burger.

13th May 2010

I dont know which one I was more interested in - Malaysia attempting to squeeze through the semi-finals in the Thomas Cup, how deliciously not-too-spicy our pari bakar was or the fact that I managed to find not one, not two, not even three, but four double lala's in our plate!

15th May 2010

So apparently there's a new kid around town in Subang called Empire Shopping Gallery, and I took the kiddos there for a look-see one fine day. It looks like a mini version of Tropicana City Mall, except without the cinema. Best. Mall. Description. Ever.
