Shrek Finally Forever After
The only other big green (not sure if friendly or not) giants I know hawks peas for a living and is a poster boy for anger management classes, so it's nice to have another big green giant to laugh at once in awhile.
Or rather, big green ogre.
Thanks to United International Pictures and Kel Li, I managed to catch a screening of the final movie in the Shrek series - "Shrek Forever After" in 3D!
Now this is a perfect example of 3D done right in a movie. It's beautiful to watch, everything pops perfectly out of the screen when it's supposed to, no unnecessary objects flying at you just to scream "3D!!!!!!" in your face and it just enhances the viewing experience so much more!
To drive the beauty of 3D point home, read Sen Wai's explanation of the recent 3D murders here.
The first Shrek movie was awesome - hilarious with it's pop culture references, use of modern jokes in a medieval setting and pretty damn fun to watch with all the fairy tale characters shamelessly used.
The second Shrek movie got even better with Prince Charming's character with his flowing locks and amazing sharp chin. But the third Shrek movie kinda killed it for me as the last drop of milk I thought this green-eared franchise would have.
Thankfully, "Shrek Forever After" is the final movie of the green mud-bathing ogre, and my, what a way to go!
The movie starts off with Shrek finally settling down with Fiona and their 3 little ogre triplets (imagine the babysitting fees you could charge for those) as a happy green family. But Shrek being the demanding alpha male that he is, just wants to go back to the old days when he was free to whatever he wants, whenever he wants to.
Enter good ol' fairy tale's favourite trickster, Rumpelstiltskin. Yea, everyone knows his name in this movie. Shrek makes a wish and becomes the international ambassador of the "Be Careful What You Wish For" club.
Everything changes with just a signature, and of course, one ogre's misery is a moviegoer's happiness.
There's a few new fairy tale characters in this movie like the wicked witches (Wizard of Oz) and the Pied Piper who looks terribly suave tooting his pipe and making a grand entrance only he can make!
The movie is well-paced with the usual pop culture jokes, witty dialogue and the ending credits are worth staying for with some flashbacks of all the previous Shrek movies! This is a must watch in 3D, especially during a certain broomstick getaway scene!
Found some punny promo posters of the movie online:

So long Shrek! It's been a good run.
LOL!
