Nothing Beats More Free Swag!
Very random, but I must document this!
So very disgustingly happy, its nauseating, but I just won a 3day 2night stay at the Swiss Garden Golf Resort and Spa Damai Laut [click] courtesy of Red FM! Whee! I submitted 3 songs online for the "Red FM's Threesome" segment on the "Late Night Love Songs" show and my submission got picked! Woot!!
Got the call while in the car last night on the way home, and I totally didnt know what to say at all! I sounded like a complete arse, gushing and giggling and whatnot, but really, I was very excited because there is nothing quite like getting free swag!
I sound like a duck while on air.
Yea, I'm glad I finally won something because I was very angry that I didnt get to win anything from recent "Red FM FourPlay" contest, where I spent about RM30 of credit just SMS-ing in ok. That's like 1 month credit quota gone right there >=(
So yes, Red FM, I'm not mad at you guys anymore. Quite the opposite in fact. See, who says I'm difficult to please?
But still, RM2k would have been nice. Just sayin'.
P.S. Forgot to mention the 3 songs I chose! Went through my playlist for the most jiwang songs ever and all I could come up with were "Amazed" by Lonestar, "Love You Lately" by Daniel Powter and "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None the Richer. I have such awesome taste that anyone who tastes otherwise should just eat bittergourd for the rest of their lives wtf.

Facial Underwear
Must make note of random facial improvement and progress!!
I've been hearing alot about how using skin primers before putting on foundation, and about how it'll all help my makeup last longer and stuff.
And I really need the gunk I put on my face to last forever! Everytime I put some foundation on, within a few hours, its like I've just dunked my face in a bowl of cooking oil T__T
I was browsing at Watson's a few weeks ago and at the (very horrifyingly pink) Majolica Majorca shelf, I spotted this little beauty:
According to the label, its an oil-control makeup base which absorbs excess sebum so my makeup stays on longer and I wont kill people with an oily sheen from my forehead at the end of the day.
Look at the packaging. So nice. So pretty. So cute. Must try!!
But it was quite expensive at RM39.90 (for me la) and I didnt really fancy buying a whole jar of the stuff, only to find out that I dont want it. So I found this random blog shop that sells BB Cream (yet another thing i've always wanted to try) and other related products, in full size jars and also in sample sizes!
Yea, I know its kinda dodgy to buy something from a blog shop, especially when its "sample sizes" and they put it in those little flat white ointment containers (like the ones you get at clinics for your rash). What if its some random acidic compound that burns my flesh off, leaving me with a gaping empty hollow where my right cheek used to be!!?? 0__0
But a sample size of Majolica Majorca's Skin Lingerie was exactly what I was looking for, before going full size, so I ordered it anyway.
I've been using it everyday for a few weeks already (i'm quite stingy with it. spread barely enough to cover my face, only on important areas wtf. gonna make this little sample size last me for 2 months at least!) and I love love love it!
I put it on before my foundation, but it doesnt instantly brighten up my skin or make it look matte. In fact, it didnt make an ounce of noticeable difference to my skin (no coverage, no glow, nothing)! First time I used it, I was going to break down and cry already because I just spent RM14 on this (plus shipping) T___T
But the glorious magic of Skin Lingerie shows its true colours once I put my foundation and powder on. My makeup (foundation at least) does last longer! Which is something for me to shout about because I'm forever having to touch up with powder once my face starts melting (like the ass of a wicked witch).
My foundation lately is usually satisfyingly smooth and still rather matte at the end of the day! So happy, you wouldnt believe it. I didnt think miracles like this were possible. Perhaps world peace is to be had with a jar of Skin Lingerie.
Sigh, now thinking hard on whether or not to invest in the full size jar or keep searching for the perfect skin primer or BB cream.

Hmm..Meaning of Dreams About Kidnapping
"Kidnapping is a powerful image for us because it includes strong victimization and loss-of-power issues. Someone who is kidnapped goes from being in control of their own destiny to being completely in the hands of another.
If you are dreaming of being kidnapped, the obvious questions are: "What is the condition of your captivity; and by whom are you held?"
If you cooperate with your captors, you may be wanting someone to take control of an untidy section of your life. However, you may feel as though your autonomy has been so severely compromised that you lack the ability to manage the situation.
If your captors are somehow familiar, this may reflect a sense that life has entrapped you. Where did your abductors take you and how? Your subconscious may be showing you an area where your life has become excessively entangling to your autonomy.
It may be that somehow your kidnapping allows you to separate from your environment and start again. Perhaps you are wanting a second chance and do not have the courage to take one. By having yourself kidnapped, you have an excuse to act or behave unusually and blame you captors for it."

Well, I suppose that's good to know.

MTV World Stage, Here I Come!
This weekend is gonna be THE WEEKEND I've been waiting for most of my life!!!!
Its finally here! "MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia" at Sunway Lagoon Resort!!!
And not Singapore! They always get the good stuff, so its time we got a share of the action too! /bitter
I almost cried with happiness when news of the line-up slowly got confirmed over the past few weeks! So many awesome acts, I dont know where to begin T____T
Local Malaysian rockers, Estranged are slotted to perform and make us proud amongst the other international acts!
Granted, I'm not too familiar with their songs (with the exception of "Itu Kamu" which everyone knows) and have seen them play a few times and they oughta provide a good dose of head-banging action.
British pop-rock quartet, Raygun!!
Phwoar their lead singer, Ray Gun (yes, thats his name) looks absolutely delish! Gotta admit, this is the first time I've heard of them and recently the radios have started playing some of their tunes, so not bad not bad!
Little poppet, Pixie Lott's performing too!
First thought of mine when I saw the vidoe of her song "What Would Mama Do" was that she looks gorgeous and has that sultry sexy tousled hair look. How sexy she'll get on Malaysian shores is another thing altogether, but I cant wait to see her on stage.
Ok, on to the acts that really get me going!
Who doesnt know Hoobastank??
Alright, I'm the typical Hoobastank fan who only knows their radio hits, so I'll probably keep quiet if they perform other songs. But there hasnt been much news from Hoobastank for the past year or so and things have toned down abit around here. Still, everyone knows and loves them, so thats alright!
Kasabian!!
These guys are right up there on the Brit-Rock-Gods pedestal and their songs are absolutely infectious and catchy with quirky beats that I cant wait to jump up and down too. We should be so honoured they're stopping by here T____T
The delicious lads of Boys Like Girls!!
Ahhhhhhhh.. First heard of them a few years ago and their song "Up Against The Wall" is always on any playlist of mine! They've gone a bit too pop-ish for my liking, but nothing beats familiarity, so Boys Like Girls, I will be there for you!!!!!
And last but not least..
The All American Rejects!!!
Omgomgomgomgomgomgomg!!!! When I first heard they were coming, I couldnt believe it! I refused to believe it! No way would The All American Rejects even bother thinking about our puny country as a concert stop.
But its trrrruuuuuuueeeeeeee!!! They are coming, they're performing, and if I pass out with happiness at the concert, I will be very mad at myself!
Must. Not. Pass. Out.
I was panicking for abit because tickets for this were not available for sale (though you can find people now selling them online at ridiculous prices) and I was getting very upset because it looked like I wouldnt be able to go.
Then Twitter and David saved the day!! =D So yes, I am most definitely going and now the next headache would be what to wear!! T___T There's gonna be tons of people there, so must put on comfy shoes and comfy clothes to party in. Hmmm..
Venue map.
I'll be at the Red Zone with the rest of the world, so lets hope I dont get sucked into the madness and come out in pieces at the other end.
I still cant believe all this is happening in my lifetime. Love it!!

Of Balloons And Aliens
I knew I was in for a treat the minute I saw snippets of this movie trailer a few weeks ago in the cinema! I finally got to watch Disney and Pixar's "Up" (thanks to Nuffnang)!!
"By tying thousands of balloon to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn't alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip."
The colours are absolutely amazing! They were so vivid and rich, I was immediately sucked into the world of Carl and Russell with their adorable bickering and slapstick moments. The amount of minute detail in this movie is incredible, from the tired wrinkles on Carl's face to every leaf they passed along their journey.
Russell the little Wilderness Explorer is the cutest thing!
I loved watching how Carl eventually warmed up to Russel and the other non-human characters in the movie (even though we all know its bound to happen), letting his guard down and realising that he can fulfill his promise and save the day while he's at it. "Up" is such a happy movie and everyone in the cinema totally laughed on cue ;)
The beginning of the movie was so sad!! I admit, I teared up abit! =( If your eyes werent at least abit moist after that 5-minute montage, YOU ARE NOT HUMAN!!
Which means you belong in the movie I watched last night!
"Thirty years ago, aliens made first contact with Earth. The aliens were refugees, the last survivors of their home world. The creatures were set up in a makeshift home in South Africa's District 9. The tension between the aliens and the humans comes to a head when an MNU field operative contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. He quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9."
Firstly, the effects were mad! The weapons were crazy enough to be alien, yet not too outlandish for me to say "Oh, that's ridiculously impossible." This is a pretty gory movie with alot of blood and decapitated body parts (i loike), and everything was amazingly realistic! I flinched quite abit and there were alot of "Whoa.." moments from everyone in the audience during some scenes.
One of the aliens in an uncomfortable confrontation with MNU personnel.
But what really left an impact on me was the disturbing feeling that lingered behind long after I stepped out of the dark cinema into normal life again. This movie makes you think, but not in a way you'd expect to. I felt abit morally confused, I think.
I watch scenes where I felt indignant on behalf of some of the characters and felt a pang of injustice at how some people view things in the most unintelligent way possible. Then I did a 180 and felt sorry at the very same people (or more specifically, person) whose reactions were justified by the fact that he was just reacting as all humans would - that I deserve to live more than you do.
Most definitely the intention of the film-makers to blatantly insert elements that are relevant to current world issues and things we (unfortunately) face/read about everyday.
A pivotal character, Wikus Van de Merwe. You'll want to slap him and give him a hug at the same time.
A little bit of interesting trivia on Sharlto Copley who played Wikus - he had no acting experience prior to District 9! So for a first-time appearance, he played the role magnificently well! Trust me, when you watch the movie, you'll understand the complicated emotions he had to portray and evoke.
Gosh, 2 very contrasting movies, one after the other. Must. Rest. Brain.

The Great Phuket Adventure: Part 2
Time to get on with "The Great Phuket Adventure: Part 2"! [Day 1 here]
Was very much looking forward to Day 2 because it was a day on which we'd already made plans for something that would take up a huge chunk of our spending money for the entire trip! It would be pretty worth it too since it was definitely something we've always wanted to do and its something holiday-ish at least! Hahah.
It unfortunately included a really early morning start T____T *groans all the way from Thailand*
A van picked us up from the hotel and we were off! It was an amazingly sunny day and as skies go anywhere but KL, it was a brilliant blue.
One road off the busy streets, and we were greeted by lush green countrysides.
Where were we headed to? The Siam Safari!! =D
We booked a spot for one of their main attractions!
The van dropped us off at what looked like a meeting point for Siam Safari, which was a shed with long wooden tables and benches where other tourists were already patiently waiting (and turning bright red with the heat) whilst fanning themselves with straw hats.
It was about 8am, and the sun was out in full force already!
We were divided into several groups, and were bundled into army-looking jeeps to get to our next destination.
Rows of waiting jeeps.
But before that, protection! Mozzie repellent is apparently a must, depending on how much you tend to attract mosquitoes. Which if you have blood running through those veins, is pretty much all the time!
Yayyyyyyyyyy!! Even sitting in the jeep on the way there is fun.
Touristy smiles.
The ride in the jeep was a bumpy and windy one! Luckily, it didnt involve alot of travelling along the main road, so it wasnt too smoky and dusty. Once we hit the countryside, it was a cool and shaded (albeit slightly uphill and kinda scary) route.
Anyway, climax time!
This is what we were here for! =D
I've always wanted to ride an elephant. Or even get remotely close to one. They're such huge and majestic animals, I've always wondered how it'd be like to be able to actually ride one.
Must behave around the elephants.
When we got there, we could certainly smell that the elephants were close by -________-
Our guide, and our elephant!!
It was a pretty amazing sight to watch a whole bunch of trained elephants slowly lumber towards our group, swaying their huge heads side to side, flapping those gigantic floppy ears and scratching an itch with those trunks.
And their feet were enormous! Very surreal =D
Sad elephant eyes. Such a National Geographic picture.
Getting onto the elephant wasnt as difficult as I thought it would be because they built a high sort of platform which came level with the elephants back. So it was no clambering on for us, and no bending down for them.
And to sit on the elephant? They tied a bench with metal restraint (much like a rollercoaster seat) onto the elephants back. The bench is padded with lots of blankets and cushions where it sits on the elephants back, so I suppose it doesnt quite hurt them.
Still quite kesian la.
Before we headed off on our trek, our tour guide told us a little bit about the safari and their efforts in elephant conservation. Most of the elephants there were rescued from poachers and given a safe sanctuary at the reserve. It would be far too dangerous for them to be released back into the wild, so they're trained for tourism purposes.
Still quite kesian la.
We were pretty high up!
Ok, the first few minutes were quite terrifying as we swayed left and right in our rickety seat. And we werent exactly very close to the ground either! It was quite high up and it felt as if I was going to fall out of my seat at any moment and be trampled to mush by the next elephant.
Plus, I was also really scared that a mouse or something would run across our elephant's path and it would rear up on its hind legs and throw us off its back in terror T____T
But after getting used to it, it was a pretty exciting experience!Proof!
The elephants were all walking in a line along the trail.
Some got distracted pretty easily.
And we were privelleged enough to watch elephants pee. It is like a torrential storm, I tell you. Its like a really disturbing (and very strong) water jet which lasts for a good few seconds. And proceeds to create a little waterfall wherever they choose to do it.
The reserve is at the top of a hill, so sudden magnificent views like this around the corner were a great surprise.
The road quite regularly travelled.
The whole elephant trek takes about 45 minutes around the reserve, and it goes at a pretty leisurely pace. They'll stop regularly for photo opportunities (not easy to get a clear shot on top of a moving pachyderm) and everyone's generally in a good mood because its kinda hard to not feel all happy and excited about something like this.Alighting with such grace.
Now for the business part of all this - tugging at our heartstrings so that we'll feed the elephants.
The elephants obediently line up against the platform and stick their trunks through the wooden fence, because there'll be baskets of fruits for sale, and we're allowed to give them a treat for all their hard work. 100 Baht for a basket of fruits.
I just had to.
Some elephants already know where the goods are at =P
Please dont step on me.
Sigh, I so wanted to bring one home. Stop looking at me with those sad eyes!! =(
More proof of elephant life.
Apart from the elephant trek, there were other activities included in the package.
Like an elephant show!
Several baby elephants were gathered in a little arena, and showed us some of the tricks they've been learning like greeting people, playing football and dancing!
Also, elephant art!
Next up, food!
Our guide explaining to tourists the art of getting coconut milk. Not news to us. The kedai runcit behind my house still grates the coconut right in front of me to get the coconut shavings for coconut milk.
Been there done that wtf.
They cooked a delicious Thai Green Curry for us right there and then!Yummmyyyyyy....!!
After that, there was also a demo for a monkey plucking coconuts, which again is nothing new to us, but a novelty to the other tourists I guess.
Great thing about the package was that it included a buffet lunch =)
Authentic Thai nom nom. After all the adventure, we were starving!
After lunch, there was a bus waiting back at the first drop-off point to take us back to the hotel.
An entire bus, with just the 4 of us in it.Secretly working for the government wtf.
Once we got back to the hotel, we didnt really have much to do, so it was time for a nap! Seriously, this was the most free-and-easy trip ever! I love holidays where I get to just laze around and do whatever I want.
Plus, I love hotel rooms, especially cozy ones.
Towards the evening, we headed down to the beach right behind our hotel to check out the sunset! That's a sort of pavilion on a hill, most likely for wedding receptions and all.
The beach!!
Didnt really get to frolic much though. We were there to kill some time before heading down town for dinner.
Behold, the power of sunset!
Always a must ;)
Love the lines.
Then it was off to Patong beach again for dinner.
And we went to the same restaurant again that we went to on Day 1! We loved the service and food there so much, we didnt bother going through the headache of going somewhere else.
But we did order different dishes this time.
Steamed fish! Awesome..
After dinner, we were walking along Patong and our curiosity got the better of us. With all the guys coming up to us and waving various signs in our faces, we just had to check it out and experience the night life which we will NEVER get to see so openly back home.
All I can say is, its kinda expensive, quite an experience, and I will never look at ping pong balls, goldfish and boobs the same way ever again 0____0 (some of the girls looked far too young to be doing such acts though hmm..)
After that, we all had glorious full-body Thai massages to end the night! Omg so cheap, its ridiculous! If I lived there, I'd have a full-body massage everyday!! It was kinda ticklish for me, especially when she worked on my legs, but boy did she twist and turn and pummel me in every way possible!
I felt like jelly after that. Had 1hr of full-body and 1hr foot-massage (much needed thanks to all the walking I've been doing).
End of Day 2!
