Nuffnang's Pirated Event
As you all very well know, I'm a stickler for generosity and free shite.
So a phonecall from Nuffnang a few weeks ago telling me that I'd won 2 free tickets to watch "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" at Cineleisure, was most certainly welcome!!
Being the *coughs* "charitable" person that I am, I decided to bring good ol Jason along for the movie, last Thursday. I mean, the fact that he is one of the few people with a car, willing to send me all the way home to Shah Alam at 1am from Cineleisure, had absolutely nothing to do with it whatsoever!!! I swear!!
Damn, I'm good. Next thing you know, I'll be donating my appendix and baking cupcakes for homeless Norwegian orphans.
250 bloggers were there!! 250!! It was apparently the biggest gathering of bloggers the nation had ever seen. Good on you Nuffnang!!
It was therefore, an absolute bummer that I hardly had the chance to do anything more than exchange a quick hello with a few familiar faces!! The cinema hall doors opened at 9.30pm and we got there at about 9.15pm.
Jason and I couldnt find the ticket redemption counter!! It was just our luck that there were 2 other ticket redemption counters for completely different events with a ton of people milling about, and we frantically looked high and low for the sight of cameras flashing (always a sure sign that a blogger is around). Then we found out it was on the 2nd level of the cinema.
We'd just enough time to get our tickets, complimentary support-Nuffnang car stickers and free popcorn & drinks set (thanks Exabytes!!), before we joined the stampede into Hall 9.
Free seating.
Lets see now, one of the first few faces I saw was Smashp0p (who you'll see later, helped me prove that incredibly great minds think alike) and Jolene by the door. I heard my name and around the corner was Yee Hou playing official photographer for the night, being an absolute menace with his blinding flash, which I had a taste of; first hand. Turd..
There was also a mini fancy dress competition where the best-dressed pirate blogger would win a trip to Singapore!! I tried to persuade Jason to dress up. I know I'll do a wicked job with the eyeliner!! But, he wouldnt budge!! Spoilsport.
But look who did dress up (and eventually won)!!

Suanie (winner!), KY and Fireangel!!
All of whom are supa-bloggers I stalk regularly. I didnt get the chance to meet them in person! And even if I did, I'm not sure if I'd have been able to work up the nerve to say hi *blushes*
We managed to get pretty good seats in the hall, right in the middle!! I know how some people love sitting right in front (talk about an almost 3-d experience) or right at the back (good eyesight, or bad intentions) during a movie. I dont. The middle is where I wanna be.
Then I started seeing more bloggers.
Lets do some serious name link dropping here. (i have no shame. haha!)
Rames and Jenifer were a few seats away as I frantically waved at them in the darkness, almost drowning Jason in popcorn and coke. I turned around and caught sight of Kimberlycun seated a few rows behind me. A familiar head bobbed up and down. Splashmilk's Mikel was there too (didnt get to say hi!=( bummer)!!
Then a huge white guy who looked rather imposing, and surprisingly not out of place in a bright blue bandanna and tropical-esque shirt, lumbered down the steps and plopped himself next to Kim. Ooo.. Shaolin Tiger! So thats how big he is in real life. *wide eyed stare of absolute jakun-ness*

The seats were slowly filling up.
Another familiar blogger walked down the steps next to me (sitting next to the aisle has its advantages) and I recognised her as Suet Lee (entertaining, light-hearted blog). Skyler says I should have walked up to her, said hi and thanked her loads because without her blog, we'd never have discovered the disgustingly cheap warehouse sale where we bought so many clothes, we didnt know what to do with them.
I promise I will next time!!
I also spotted Albert in one of the front rows, flanked (and envied by all the guys) by the yummy Su Ann aka Pinkpau. Phwoar..
Apparently one of the our most well-known (and perhaps controversial) bloggers, Jeff Ooi, was there too. But err.. I probably wouldnt have been able to recognise him if I saw him anyway.
I am such a blog nerd!! I still get all excited and pre-school-ish whenever I spot the faces behind the blogs I regularly stalk. Most of their blogs are intriguing enough to for me to stalk on a regular basis, have my immense admiration and they're on a completely different blogging platform.
Its quite intimidating actually. I feel meek. Small. Feeble. Miniscule. Paltry. A shrimp in a sea of whatever-is-the-biggest-fish-in-the-sea.
Such fun!! =D
Boss Stewie, the man behind Nuffnang and who made all this possible, said (or shouted, more like) a few words to thank everyone for coming and for supporting Nuffnang. You're welcome, boss! We love you too!!
Ok, lets get on with the movie.Personally, the movie was pretty good, though not quite up to standards. Well, it did have a lot to live up to. It wasnt as awesome as the 2nd movie and it was a tad draggy (almost 3hrs was pushing it) which had me thinking "Is it over yet?" towards the end. The usual hilarious moments and laughter-inducing scenes were abound, though it seemed as though they were trying too hard at certain bits. But, it was still an awesome movie nonetheless. Go watch it!!
Orlando was smoking hot (go and die la you, skyler. hmph) and Johnny Depp is an absolute genius for giving us such an unforgettable character. Keira is finally out of her rib-squeezing corset dresses (sorry lads. less cleavage) and gets more down and dirty this time. Woo hoo!!
The credits rolled and we streamed out of the hall. Some confusing moments later, it seemed that everyone had left!! What..???
Granted, it was almost 1am and a school-night, but still.. =(
The 2 Jason's and I wandered around for a bit, lost and abandoned (like puppies in spca, you heartless rogues!!).
So amazingly, I managed to get only 1 picture.
Jason, Jen, Jason.
All of us decked in red!! See? I told you amazingly great minds think alike. Haha!! Jenifer left early! The caption would have been so much cooler if she were in the picture.
"Jason, Jen, Jason, Jen"
That was so lame, its hilarious. *walks off to a corner alone and guffaws with laughter*
Spotted Rames and Cheryl (who was late and had to sit right in front) strolling about and we had a short chat before we decided to call it a night.
It was too short a bloggers meet. Would have been great if I could have talked to more people (for longer) and take more pictures. Oh well, next time then!!
But hey, I'm not complaining. Free movie. Free snacks. Great company. Awesome experience. Wicked stuff.
Thanks Nuffnang!! Now please give me free tickets to watch Shrek 3 or Transformers, and I'll love you forever!!
